These are the companies that handle personal data for us to run LatexNotes (our subprocessors): what each does for us, what it receives, where it processes it, and its own terms. The list follows what our code actually does, and we add a provider here before it receives anything. This page complements our Privacy policy.
Where your notes live
| Provider | What it does for us | What it receives | Where | Its terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Render | Runs our servers: transcription, building PDFs, your account, saving notes, and live sessions. | Everything the app sends us: your account details, the files you upload, your notes and drawings, what you type into a tool, and your IP address with each request. | Frankfurt, Germany | Privacy policyData processing terms |
| Supabase | Our database and file storage. | Your account details, your notes (the files you upload, the LaTeX and PDFs made from them, your drawings), sharing settings, usage records and our technical logs. Your browser downloads your notes' files from it directly, through private links that expire, so it also sees your IP address. | Ireland (Amazon Web Services, eu-west-1) | Privacy policyData processing terms |
| Vercel | Serves the website and the app, and passes every request on to our servers. Also our cookieless analytics (Web Analytics and Speed Insights). | Your IP address and each request on its way to our servers, including what you upload. For analytics: the pages you visit (secret link codes taken out), the site you came from, your browser, device type and country, and how fast pages load. | A global network; Vercel is based in the United States | Privacy policyData processing terms |
| Cloudflare | Turnstile, the check that tells people from bots, when you create an account or try LatexNotes without one. | Signals from your browser for the check, and your IP address. | A global network; Cloudflare is based in the United States | Privacy policyData processing terms |
AI provider
This reads your pages and powers the AI features. It receives only what each step needs: an image of the page or of the part you selected, the note's text around it, and what you type into a tool. The requests come from our servers, so it does not receive your name, email address, account id or IP address.
| Provider | What it does for us | What it receives | Where | Its terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DeepInfra | Runs AI models that read your pages into LaTeX and power the AI features, the Chrome extension's Snip maths and our free tools. | Images of your pages or of the part you selected, the note's text, and what you type, paste or draw into an AI feature or a free tool (including the text of a PDF you choose, read in your browser). | United States | Privacy policyTerms |
Running code in your notes
| Provider | What it does for us | What it receives | Where | Its terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| jsDelivr | Delivers Python (Pyodide, an open-source build of it) to your browser when you run Python in the Write code tool or a code cell. Your programs run only on your device. | Your IP address and browser type, with that download. Nothing from your notes or your programs: the code runs in your browser, and the download does not say which page it came from. jsDelivr says it uses IP addresses only to count visitors by country, and deletes them, usually within hours. | A global network; jsDelivr is run by Volentio JSD Limited, in England and Wales | Privacy policyData processing terms |
Accounts, email, payments, errors and analytics
| Provider | What it does for us | What it receives | Where | Its terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google (sign-in) | "Continue with Google" sign-in, if you choose it. | The email address and name on your Google account when you sign in with it. The sign-in page loads Google's button, and to make it quick your browser may connect to Google's sign-in servers when you open the site: nothing about you is sent over that connection, but Google can see your IP address. | Google's global infrastructure | Privacy policy |
| Resend | Sends our emails: your sign-up code, password resets, and notices when Pro or a free trial is ending or has ended (the one when a trial ends can include an offer on Pro). | Your email address and the message. | United States | Privacy policyData processing terms |
| Lemon Squeezy | Sells Pro as our Merchant of Record: takes payment, handles tax and receipts, and lets you manage or cancel the subscription. | Your email address and account id (so the payment reaches your account), and the card and billing details you enter on its checkout, which never reach LatexNotes. | United States | Privacy policyTerms |
| Sentry | Error reports, so we know when something breaks. | What failed and where in our code, the page address (secret link codes taken out), your browser type, and your account id and email if you are signed in. Set not to collect your uploads or anything you type, though an error message can quote a few words of the text that caused it. | United States | Privacy policyData processing terms |
| Ahrefs | Cookieless analytics of visits to our public pages (Ahrefs Web Analytics), so we can see how people find LatexNotes. It does not run on your notes or account pages. | For each visit to a public page: its address (secret link codes taken out) and title, the site you came from, and your browser, language and screen size. Your IP address reaches Ahrefs with the request; Ahrefs says it uses it only for your city or country and a daily visitor count, and never stores it. | Ahrefs is based in Singapore and does not say where it stores this data | Privacy policyData processing terms |
How long our AI provider keeps what it receives
We do not ask our AI provider to delete requests immediately (sometimes called zero data retention), so it handles what it receives under its standard API terms, linked above. Those terms can allow it to keep requests for a limited time, for example to detect abuse, and to review them to provide and improve its services. LatexNotes itself never sells your data, uses it for advertising, or uses it to train models.
Services you choose to use
These receive something only when you ask, and they are not our subprocessors: their own terms apply.
- Overleaf - “Open in Overleaf” sends the note’s LaTeX to Overleaf, which opens it in your Overleaf account (Overleaf’s terms and privacy).
- Reference lookups - the bibliography tool looks up the references you paste in public catalogues: doi.org (Crossref, DataCite and mEDRA), Crossref, arXiv, Open Library, Google Books and PubMed. If you paste a web address, our server fetches that page. Only what you paste is sent, from our servers.
- Blackboard - our Chrome extension imports files from your university’s Blackboard in your own browser, and sends them only to LatexNotes.
What is not on this list
No advertising network, data broker, tracking pixel or social media plugin. We do not sell or rent personal data, or share it for advertising. Apart from Google’s sign-in button, Cloudflare’s check, the cookieless analytics of Vercel and Ahrefs and, when you run Python in a note, Python from jsDelivr, the site loads no scripts, fonts or images from other companies, and your notes’ files come from our own storage provider (Supabase).
International transfers
Our servers run in Germany and your account and notes are stored in Ireland. Our AI provider and several of the other providers above are based in the United States, so running the Service involves processing some of your data there and in other countries. Where personal data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, and, where a provider is certified, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension.
Changes to this list
We add a provider to this page before it receives any personal data, and update the page when a provider changes or stops being used. For questions, or to raise a concern, email support@latexnotes.tech or use the Support page.
