The extension scans a Blackboard module, lists its PDFs, and imports the ones you pick into LatexNotes. How to download and import Blackboard PDFs
Blackboard has no bulk “export all” button, so pulling a whole module's PDFs by hand is tedious. The extension is a one-click Blackboard PDF downloader:
- Install the extension. Add LatexNotes Blackboard Import from the Chrome Web Store and sign in to LatexNotes.
- Open your course. Go to a Blackboard course page and click the extension.
- Select your PDFs. It scans the loaded module for the PDF materials available to you and lists them; tick the ones you want, or select all.
- Export to LatexNotes. They import into your library, mirroring the module's folder structure. It runs in the background, so you can close the tab and come back to a finished import.
What it works with
- Blackboard Ultra course pages (the modern Blackboard Learn interface).
- PDF materials anywhere in a course: lecture slides, notes, handouts, problem sheets and past papers.
- Nested folders and learning modules - the whole tree is recreated on your dashboard.
- Your own logins - it uses your existing Blackboard and LatexNotes sessions; it never sees your passwords.
Frequently asked questions
Can LatexNotes import Blackboard PDFs?
Yes. The LatexNotes Chrome extension scans the currently loaded Blackboard module for downloadable PDF materials available to the signed-in student. You select the files you want and export them to LatexNotes.
How do I download PDFs from Blackboard?
Open a Blackboard course, click the extension, tick the PDFs you want (or select all), and export them to LatexNotes - they download and land in your library, organised by module.
Does LatexNotes bypass Blackboard permissions?
No. The extension only works with material that is already accessible to the signed-in student. It does not bypass Blackboard permissions or access restricted course material.
Can Blackboard lecture notes be converted to LaTeX?
If the imported material contains handwritten mathematics, LatexNotes can transcribe the handwriting into compilable LaTeX. Ordinary lecture PDFs can also remain as PDFs in the workspace. See Blackboard to LaTeX.
Can I use Blackboard notes on iPad?
Once imported into LatexNotes, you can work with the material in the LatexNotes workspace and annotate it with an Apple Pencil.
Is the Blackboard extension free?
The Chrome extension is free to install. Importing PDFs into your LatexNotes library is a Pro feature; every account also gets a free monthly page allowance for transcribing notes.
