Is this LaTeX equation editor free?
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser with no account and no limits, and your equations never leave your device.
Do I need to know LaTeX to use it?
No. Use the symbol buttons and the common-equation examples above, then edit the code to learn as you go.
How do I write a fraction in LaTeX?
Use \frac{numerator}{denominator}, for example \frac{a}{b}. The x/y button inserts the template at your cursor.
How do I write an integral in LaTeX?
Use \int for the sign, with _ and ^ for the limits: \int_{a}^{b} f(x)\,dx. The integral button inserts this template.
How do I write a matrix in LaTeX?
Wrap the entries in \begin{pmatrix} ... \end{pmatrix}, separating columns with & and rows with a double backslash. The matrix button inserts a 2 by 2 example.
How do I write subscripts and superscripts?
Use _ for a subscript and ^ for a superscript, such as x_i and x^2. Put more than one character in braces, like x_{i+1}.
Where can I paste the output?
Anywhere that renders LaTeX: Overleaf, a .tex document, Jupyter, many forums and wikis, and chat apps that support maths.
Does it work with KaTeX and MathJax?
Yes. The live preview uses KaTeX, and the code it produces is standard LaTeX maths that also works with MathJax and in a full LaTeX document.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. The editor and symbol buttons work on mobile; tapping a symbol raises the keyboard and inserts at the cursor.
