PDF to Word Converter

Turn a PDF into an editable Word document, free and with no account. Equations come out as real Word equations, and scans and handwriting are read too.

Drop a PDF hereor a photo of a page. Scans and handwriting work too.

Free with no account: up to 5 pages a day. Create a free account for longer files: 150 pages a month free.

What you get in Word

  • Equations you can edit. Every formula becomes a real Word equation, the same kind Insert > Equation makes, so you can click into it and change it.
  • Scans and handwriting. Each page is read by AI, so a scanned worksheet or a page of handwritten notes converts as well as a typed PDF.
  • Structure kept. Headings, lists and tables come across as Word headings, lists and tables, not loose text boxes.
  • Nothing to sign up for. No account, no email address and no watermark.

Equations stay equations

Many PDF to Word converters turn maths into pictures, or into loose symbols that fall apart when you edit the line. Here every equation arrives as a Word equation:

The Gaussian integral comes up again and again in probability:

∫0∞e−x2 dx=π2\int_{0}^{\infty} e^{-x^{2}}\,dx = \frac{\sqrt{\pi}}{2}∫0∞e−x2dx=2π
In Word this is an equation box: click it to change any part, or press Alt+= to add one of your own.

How it works

  1. Drop your file in. A PDF exported from any app, a scan, or a photo of a page.
  2. Each page is read. The words, the maths and the tables on each page are read and typed out, with every equation in LaTeX.
  3. You get a Word file. The LaTeX becomes a .docx with real Word equations, and it downloads. Open it in Word, Google Docs or Pages.

Frequently asked questions

Is this PDF to Word converter free?

Yes. With no account it converts the first 5 pages of a PDF, up to 5 pages a day, with no watermark. A free account reads longer files within its daily and monthly pages, and Pro has no monthly limit.

Do I need to sign up?

No. Drop a PDF and press Convert to Word. A quick, usually invisible check makes sure you are a person, and that is all.

Will my equations stay editable in Word?

Yes. Every equation becomes a real Word equation, the same kind Insert > Equation makes, so you can click into it and change it. Google Docs keeps them as equations too.

Can it convert a scanned PDF or handwritten notes?

Yes. Each page is read by AI, not just copied from the PDF's text, so scans, photos of pages and handwritten notes convert as well as a typed PDF.

What happens to graphs and pictures?

Graphs and diagrams are redrawn as LaTeX drawings, which Word cannot show, so the Word file marks where each one was. Download the PDF to see them, or open the result in Overleaf to edit them. Photos inside the PDF are not copied across.

Is my file kept?

Without an account your file is used only to make your Word file, and the result is deleted from our servers within 30 days. Signed in, it is saved to your notes only if you tick the box to keep it.

How long does it take?

Each page is read in turn, and while it works the page shows how long is left. Keep the page open until your Word file is ready.

Does it keep other languages?

Yes. Text stays in the language it was written in, Chinese included, with the maths typeset around it.

Want LaTeX instead?

The same reading powers PDF to LaTeX, handwriting to LaTeX and photo to LaTeX: you get the LaTeX, a typeset PDF and graphs redrawn so you can edit them.
